QuitoFoods’ founder Sebastian Espejo is credited with creating the first natural barcode system - Sellonatural™ - in his warehouse in Quito, Ecuador in the late 1990s. Through the use of infrared equipment, he could stamp fruit with a barcode that used natural bruising effects without damaging the quality of the food product.
