Loss is the Greatest Teacher

Lupita Espejo Remembering her son Sebastian

It has been over four years since my life was turned upside down by the Earthquake that shook my world and took my son away. Since that day my heart is like a llapingacho without the cheese. I am not a wordsmith who always knows where to place the accent on the vowels, like my dearest son Sebastian Espejo, and I don't pretend to know about all of these fancy business terms. But I have learned that loss is the greatest teacher. I see the world differently now that I don't have my son here to brighten my sometimes dark existence. Since Manuela told me that she and Sebastian had lived in passion and that little Raimundo was a barnacle on the rudder of their love skiff, my perspective has changed. I now think that all the money should go to little Raimundo, Manuela and myself (of course) because together we can carry Sebastian´s torch onward.

That is why I now believe that Sebastian was not murdered by anyone in particular and I also say thank you to New Life Ventures for accepting my apologies and paying all the debts and giving a fair price for Quito Foods.

P.S. It was no coincidence that my son discovered Quito paste™. That boy always loved food and since it was a suggestion by the lawyer of Ms. Laghari and the others, that I would write this letter and also share one recipe by the method of  handwriting, I would like to offer you my personal recipe of Sebastian´s favorite dish.
